POY Nomination Form



Overview

The Professional of the Year (POY) Awards Celebration provides Huntsville Association of Technical Societies (HATS) Member Organizations the opportunity to publicly recognize one (1) of their own for exceptional professionalism. To be considered for the HATS Professional of the Year (POY) Award, each HATS Member Organization must submit a nomination form and the HATS POY Selection Committee selects one (1) of the submitted POY nominees as the recipient of the Joseph P. Moquin Award.

Joseph P. Moquin Award Criteria

The Joseph P. Moquin Award will be given to the POY from among the current year's group of nominees (nominated by their respective Member Organizations) – someone that stands out as one who has stood above their peers by providing exemplary leadership to the North Alabama technical community. This involvement and leadership shall have been long-standing, with commitment and consistency.

  1. 1. S/he has retained membership in the Professional Organization that is a Member of HATS.

  2. 2. S/he has demonstrated excellence in some professional (e.g., technical, managerial, or community) work or activity that is concerned with broad and beneficial technical, scientific, social, or economic consequences. This excellence shall be exemplified in his/her workplace, Professional Organization in which they are a participant member of, and/or volunteer efforts in the community.

  3. 3. S/he has exhibited an extraordinary dedication, creativity, or leadership in that work or activity that results in excellent contributions to the technical and economic development of the City of Huntsville and the surrounding areas (activities such as education, mentorship, training, knowledge transfer, STEM initiatives, etc.).

Please note, each candidate is assessed for the Joseph P. Moquin Award based on the form submitted for that HATS member society. A Candidate may win the POY for multiple societies, but the Candidate winning the Joseph P. Moquin Award will only win under one society.
1. * Please provide a single sentence narrative indicating how the candidate excelled in the workplace and community during the year. Your narrative will be read during the awards ceremonies as we introduce your POY.

Example: In the current year, the Candidate has excelled in the workplace by doing/serving/leading 1, 2, 3, excelled in the community by doing/serving/leading 1, 2, 3, and excelled in the [HATS member society] by doing/serving/leading 1, 2, 3.


2. * Please provide a brief narrative (500 words or less) of your reasons for nominating your POY, and how they meet the criteria for the Joseph P. Moquin Award.

Example: Candidate has demonstrated excellence in some professional (e.g., technical, managerial, or community) work or activity that is concerned with broad and beneficial technical, scientific, social, or economic consequences. This excellence shall be exemplified in the Candidate's workplace and/or volunteer efforts in the community.

Candidate has exhibited an extraordinary dedication, creativity, or leadership in that work or activity that results in excellent contributions to the technical and economic development of the City of Huntsville and the surrounding areas (activities such as education, mentorship, training, knowledge transfer, STEM initiatives, etc.).


3. * Please provide a brief narrative (500 words or less) of how the nominated POY has contributed to your society's mission.

Example: Candidate has demonstrated excellence by contributing to the society mission of the Professional Organization in which they are a participant member of. This excellence shall be exemplified in the Candidates Professional Organization in which they are a participant member of and/or volunteer efforts in the community. This would be works that they have done for the society or participated in with the society.
